In the context of modern existential crises often triggered by emotional distress, social alienation, and profound loss pastoral counseling offers a unique integration of psychological and spiritual dimensions. However, traditional verbal methods may fall short in addressing the deeply non-verbal and symbolic nature of human suffering. This article explores the integration of photography as a reflective and therapeutic medium within existential pastoral counseling. Drawing from existential theory and phototherapy practices, it highlights photography’s potential to facilitate emotional healing, spiritual contemplation, and personal meaning-making. The visual nature of photography allows counselees to reinterpret life experiences through symbolic images, opening new paths for introspection, narrative reconstruction, and theological reflection. Through a contextual and theological framework, this study proposes an innovative model where visual arts specifically photography serve as tools for pastoral accompaniment, empowering individuals to encounter God’s presence amidst suffering and renewal.
