Abstract

Adolescence is an important phase in an individual's development from childhood to adulthood, characterized by striking physical changes and profound psychological adjustments. At this time, teenagers face significant challenges in determining their social roles, exploring their identities, and responding to pressure from their surrounding environment. Physical developments such as growth in height and sexual changes influence adolescents' self-perception and their interactions with the social environment. During puberty, many teenagers begin to feel a sense of pride which often leads to feelings of insecurity. Factors such as economic constraints can exacerbate stress and anxiety, as teens may feel unable to meet social expectations or compete with their peers. A deeper understanding of the dynamics of adolescence and the feelings of insecurity that arise is important for providing appropriate support to adolescents. With this understanding, we can help teens develop the social and emotional skills necessary to better cope with the challenges of this transition phase. From a psychological perspective, feelings of insecurity are often triggered by irrational thinking, where teenagers often ignore their personal achievements and strengthen negative views of themselves. The Emotive-Rational Approach provides solutions by confronting and changing teenagers' irrational beliefs into more logical and healthy beliefs. Through this process, they are taught to recognize unproductive thought patterns, replace them with more optimistic ways of thinking, and develop the skills to regulate emotions and respond to social pressure more effectively. This approach aims to change detrimental thought patterns to constructive ones, helping adolescents achieve effectiveness, happiness and competence during important phases in their development.
