Abstract

This study discusses in depth pastoral diagnostics and holistic counseling approaches in the context of contemporary church ministry. Through literature study, this study explores various theories and approaches from pastoral theology, psychology, and counseling to respond to increasingly complex ministry challenges. Pastoral diagnostics has an important role in helping clients find the root of the problem comprehensively, not only from a psychological perspective but also spiritually, socially, and emotionally. The main difference between pastoral diagnostics and medical or psychological diagnosis lies in the approach that emphasizes more on the aspect of faith relationships with God, oneself, and others. This study highlights the diagnostic function as a basis for understanding the client's inner condition and a foundation for determining effective and empathetic service strategies. Challenges such as lack of understanding, stigma against counseling, and limited trained personnel are obstacles to its implementation in the church. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding and integrative counseling skills are needed so that church services can provide a complete recovery impact for the congregation.
