DIAGNOSTIK PASTORAL SEBAGAI LANDASAN KONSELING

Abstract

This article aims to examine in depth the role of pastoral diagnostics as an essential foundation in counseling practice. Pastoral counseling, which integrates spiritual and psychological dimensions, requires a holistic understanding of the client’s condition. The research method used is a literature study, which involves a comprehensive analysis of various relevant scientific sources, including books, journals, and research articles that discuss pastoral diagnostics and counseling. This study found that pastoral diagnostics not only focuses on identifying psychological problems, but also explores spiritual aspects, beliefs, values, and the client’s relationship with God and the community. This diagnostic process involves a sensitive assessment of the client’s religious experience, faith struggles, and spiritual resources. The results of the analysis show that a deep understanding through pastoral diagnostics allows counselors to design interventions that are more targeted, holistic, and in accordance with the client’s spiritual needs. Thus, pastoral diagnostics is not just an initial stage, but a solid foundation for building a meaningful therapeutic relationship and facilitating comprehensive growth and recovery in the context of pastoral counseling. This article concludes that strengthening the understanding and application of pastoral diagnostics will improve the quality and effectiveness of counseling services for individuals seeking help in the perspective of their faith.
